Our Story

Daiei Central Trading was established in Queens, New York in 1970 as a supplier to Japanese restaurants. Since then, it has become one of the finest Japanese food importers on the American Market.

Today, Daiei offers more than 100 brands of different Japanese food products. It has 80 employees and offices in New York, Chicago, Maryland and Dallas, TX.

In 2021, Daiei Trading joined the KAMEI Group, continuing the legacy of founder Mr. Yoshio Takeda. In July 2026, the company merged with Central Boeki U.S.A., Ltd., further strengthening its presence and product portfolio across the United States.

1970

Founded in Queens

Daiei Trading-Co., Inc. established in Queens, New York as a supplier to Japanese restaurants by Mr. Yoshio Takeda.

1985

Hakutsuru Sake

Began offering Hakutsuru sakes, expanding into premium Japanese beverages.

1991

Chicago Expansion

Daiei Trading-Chicago-Co, Inc. founded to service the Midwest region.

1997

College Point HQ & Retail

Purchased office building in College Point, Queens. Began offering Gekkeikan sakes and entered American supermarket business.

1999

Beer Portfolio

Began offering Budweiser and Kirin beers.

2005

Maryland Office

Opened Jessup, Maryland location as satellite office/warehouse serving the Southeast (Baltimore, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Atlanta).

2015

Dallas Location

Grand opening of the Dallas branch targeting the Southwest region of the U.S.

2020

50th Anniversary

Celebrated 50 years of excellence thanks to the hard work of founder Mr. Yoshio Takeda and loyal employees.

2021

KAMEI Group

Joined the KAMEI Group, continuing the founder’s history and strengthening the company’s future.

2022

Maryland Expansion

Maryland warehouse expanded and finalized to meet increasing high demand.

2026

Merger with Central Boeki

Merged with Central Boeki U.S.A., Ltd. in July 2026, strengthening the company’s presence and product portfolio across the United States.
